Big Things Have Small Beginnings
An Origin Story
Have you ever seen the Northern Lights dancing in a clear fall sky? Auroras so strong that they are visible to the naked eye? It is still, by far, the most amazing thing that I have ever witnessed. And it was life changing. I’ve been traveling for quite a while now since that trip to Iceland, and it was the best decision I ever made. During this time, I also took up writing again as a hobby and recently decided that I’d share some of my stories online.
But what was the lead up to this decision? What is the origin story? Let’s start from the very beginning…
I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was sitting on my couch, deep in thought about what I was doing with my life. I had been working 80+ hours a week in my corporate job for a year straight and had gone through five bosses in less than a year (so cliche I know 😂). I had already achieved all my goals at my current company and position, so I started to ponder why I was deliberately putting myself through the daily grind of an incredibly stressful job. Why was I so determined to remain in a bad situation? And after thinking about it for the rest of the night, I decided it was time for a new chapter and direction. So the next morning, I quit my job, booked a trip to Iceland, and that was really all she wrote.
I should make a note here that it’s not so easy to see the Northern Lights. You can’t just book a trip to Iceland, for example, and expect to see them in all their glory. I’ll explain more fully when I write my chapter on Iceland in the not too distant future.
So here we go! I hope you’ll find my content both enjoyable and useful, and maybe it will inspire you to catch the travel bug as well. We live on such a beautiful planet, and it’d be a shame not to explore it.
