An Origin Story
Have you ever seen the Northern Lights dancing in a clear fall sky? Auroras so strong that they are visible to the naked eye? It is still, by far, the most amazing thing that I have ever witnessed. And it was life-changing. I’ve been traveling for quite a while now since that trip to Iceland, and it was the best decision I ever made. During this time, I also took up writing again as a hobby and recently decided to share some of my stories online.
But what was the lead up to this decision? What is the origin story? Let’s start from the very beginning…
I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was sitting on my couch, deep in thought about what I was doing with my life. I had already accomplished what I set out to do in my corporate career so why was I so intent on entrenching myself in the daily grind? And after thinking about it for the rest of the night, I decided it was time for a new chapter and direction. So the next morning, I quit my job, booked a trip to Iceland, and that was really all she wrote.
I should make a note here that it is not so easy to see the Northern Lights. You can’t just book a trip to Iceland, for example, signup for a Northern Lights excursion, and expect to be dazzled by this natural phenomenon (I explain this more fully in my chapter on Iceland by the way). But if conditions are just right and the Norse Æsir show you their favor, you might just be lucky enough to see the Auroras in all their glory.
So here we go! I hope you’ll find my content both enjoyable and useful, and maybe it will inspire you to catch the travel bug as well. We live on such a beautiful planet, and it’d be a shame not to explore it.
